Summary of Sketch App Meetup #8 @ Plant

We were excited when Martin Sandholt asked us to host Sketch App Meetup #8 on the 29th of October. It’s a monthly meetup where designers can geek out about the latest technology and possibilities in the world of design. The theme for this meetup was “Prototyping”.

With pizza, bottled beer (kindly sponsored by Lottrup) and about 50 designers, it was a good opportunity to meet other Sketch enthusiasts from Copenhagen and beyond.

3 speakers and 10 minutes of Sketch Off

Kasper Andersen from In2Media talked about FramerJS, a prototyping tool that uses code to “make anything possible”. Kasper gave out a promo-code for 50% off on Framer Studio: FRMR-ST-PROMO-3MZNAWJJ.

Martin Sandholt, the organizer of the meetup, talked about the mothership of prototyping tools, InVision – and some of its new collaboration functionality.

Lasse Eriksen  from Miracle presented Flinto for Mac, a tool for quick and easy prototyping. Lasse gave out a promo-code for 20% off on Flinto. Visit flinto.com/copenhagen to claim it (valid until the 5th of November, so hurry up).

After the 3 talks we had the “Sketch Off” – a 10-minute battle in Sketch between two designers. This time it was Aske Sørensen versus Matt Johnston. The format is simple: They get a short brief and a simple wireframe, and then they have 10 minutes to make the best design they can. The winner is usually the one getting the biggest applause. This evening, however, it was a tie and Aske and Matt therefore had to share the prize; a nice bottle of champagne.

From the 3 talks it became clear that the days of presenting your designs as flat images are coming to an end and that one must master the art of prototyping to best present design.

We look forward to hosting similar events in the future!
